Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do you mean by "customized living wage-centered career services"?

A: "Customized living wage-centered career services" means that we are dedicated to offering our clients career guidance and assistance that is centered around securing a living wage or better. We do this through helping clients identify their interests (via career exploration), and the training opportunities that are available throughout the state. Simply put, if the occupation/training opportunity does not secure a living wage - we don't promote it. In cases where training is not an option or clients are not interested in skills training opportunities, career specialists identify strategies for advancement, as well as explore alternative or additional opportunities to generate income.

Q: Is there a fee for your services?

A: Yes, however extremely minimal. Our Career Services Package costs $30 and online learning opportunities range from $120 - $200 based on the subscription duration. Sliding scales and payment options are available to those who qualify, as well as limited scholarship resources.

Q: Do you offer job placement?

A: WOLDE is not a job placement agency although we do offer job placement assistance that includes resume writing, interviewing support, posting online resumes and job search assistance.

Q: Can you help me with my resume?

A: YES! Our career service specialists update, enhance and create a highly-professional resume that is sure to get your application noticed. While many consider this a hassle or are intimidated by the process, we recognize that a resume is the first peek into a candidate's skill set and a critical tool to getting an interview. We have discovered that our resumes are getting our clients interviews - the first step in moving into a better paying job or reaching new career goals.

Q: Who is eligible to receive WOLDE services?

A: All women interested in advancing their careers. While WOLDE was created in an effor to assist low-income and underemployed women secure living wage jobs, our career services are equally effective in helping women who earn enough to make ends meet but wish to advance or make a career change. Currently, approximately 30% of our client base are women who are "self-sufficient" but are dissatisfied in their current jobs. Q: How do I go about receiving services?

A: Contact WOLDE at 302-655-1045 to schedule an appointment to discuss our services and see what we can do to help you reach your goals. Be sure to bring a copy of your most recent resume, if you have one.

Q: How do your services differ from those offered at the Department of Labor?

A: Our services differ from those available at the Department of Labor's One-Stops Centers in many ways. First, we are able to provide clients with a much more detailed overview of training opportunities, and the job market. Because we are a private nonprofit, we have manageable caseloads that make it possible to give our clients extensive and thorough career guidance and assistance.
