Project Access! Online Learning Program

Bringing affordable online learning to low-income and underemployed women.

Through Project Access! students can become proficient in various business and professional development courses that will successfully prepare them to test and receive credentials through certification. With over 600 professional development and business courses to choose from, clients have the opportunity to access self-paced learning modules 24/7.

Clients meet once a month with other Project Access! participants to discuss issues related to the program. Participants also meet one-on-one with career counselors at least once a month to discuss their progress.

Career Guidance & Assistance

Through our Career Guidance and Assistance services, WOLDE assists low-income and underemployed women in exploring various occupational skills training programs available through Delaware, as well as assist moderate income earners in reaching their career-related goals.

This program also offers a series of career-related services such as assistance with resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, help with developing job search strategies and setting career related goals. These services include valuable one-on-one assistance, and also attempts to refer clients to the already existing services and resources that are beneficial and appropriate to consider. These services do not duplicate already available career programs, but rather promote and encourage participation in the current existing career-related resources available throughout the state.

The WOLDE approach includes helping clients identify and recognize all existing and potential barriers that may interfere with their training or career opportunity. Support systems are identified and put in place before enrollment in or the pursuit of a living wage job training opportunity begins. By anticipating what could happen, and identifying pertinent possible solutions in advance, clients are more likely to successfully complete their training program and gain the marketable skills and credentials they need for higher paying jobs.

Women's Mentoring Circle

The Women's Mentoring Circle is designed to assist both professional women and women seeking to be professionals with reaching their career-related and personal goals. Participants gather in a group setting twice a month to provide support, advice, strategies and tips through exchanging information and sharing experiences that can help participants achieve their career-related and personal goals. Meetings are held at WOLDE on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month.

Young Sisters' Circle

Empowering young girls to strive for success!

The Young Sisters' Circle (YSC) is a new youth-centered initiative dedicated to the empowerment of young women ages 14-17. Through this program young women meet twice a week to learn various strategies and techniques that can help them to become responsible, confident and successful young adults. Workshops are geared toward providing participants with real-life situations and modeling to help participants make good choices and develop strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Women’s Opportunity Link is proud to announce it’s first BWPP partner- Mitchell Business Services. Through this partnership, WOLDE and MBS bring affordable and professional bookkeeping and employment screening services to small businesses, while offering valuable hands-on training to clients interested in obtaining QuickBooks credentials and work experience. In addition, this partnership brings motivated women the opportunity to develop their own bookkeeping businesses and move into entrepreneurship.

Connie Mitchell of Mitchell Business Services has over 25 years of experience performing the services of an office professional, bookkeeper, accounting associate, administrative specialist, and corporate data processing manager in industries such as construction, manufacturing, real estate and government. Connie also teaches QuickBooks at Delaware Technical and Community College, and is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor. She received the 2003 Delaware Home-Based Business Advocate of the Year Award from the Delaware Small Business Administration, and assists women in developing their own bookkeeping services business.

WOLDE is proud to announce it's second BusinessWorks Partnership with Rags to Riches Upscale Resale consignment shop in Centreville, Delaware! Through this partnership the agency is able to offer clients "workwear wardrobes"- suitable business-casual and professional attire for the job.

Jodie McLaughlin is the owner of Rags to Riches Upscale Resale, a resale shop in Centreville, Delaware. In June of 2006, after a 25 plus years in a Corporate Management and IT career, Jodie retired from the corporate world and purchased the resale shop. McLaughlin's passion has always been resale and thrift shopping, collecting, antiques and vintage items.

McLaughlin, who believes that networking makes the world go round, made her mark on Delaware when she started the Women's Business Network (WBN) in 2000. WBN's primary focus is networking and is a non-exclusive group designed to welcome all women for whatever reason they feel they need to network. Word-of Mouth marketing is your best and cheapest form of marketing.

Jodie is also a member of the National Association of Professional Appraisers, the New Castle County Chamber, and an affiliate member of the Women's Referral Network (WRN) of Chester County. She was awarded the SBA 2002 Delaware Women in Business Advocate of the Year, and the 2005 NAWBO Bridge Builder Award for her work on unifying the many women's groups in the Wilmington area.

With her newest endeavor, the purchase of Rags to Riches Upscale Resale, she has made it her goal to be voted the "Best of Delaware" in the Resale Shop category.

Another milestone in the Rags to Riches UPSCALE Resale story, and in an effort to give back to the women of Delaware, is the partnership between the resale shop and Women's Opportunity Link of Delaware . Clothing donations are made to WOLDE, and donated items are issued to clients in need of professional career wear.
