Why PURPLE?

Whenever someone visits our center for the first time they are instantly struck by the color scheme of our office - purple. We are often asked "why PURPLE?".

Purple was chosen as the official agency color to reflect our position that the working poor should be a bipartisan issue and of equal concern to both Democrats and Republicans. As votes are counted during elections party lines are referred to as "blue or red states", and as we all remember from Kindergarten fingerpainting, blue and red when mixed make PURPLE.

While WOLDE is a nonpartisan organization, we believe that the issue of our working poor isn't about RIGHT or LEFT, but is rather one of RIGHT and WRONG. We encourage citizens to investigate voting records and positions of their elected officials when considering candidates.
